Still, even in this case, it's good to have a firm grasp of the core concepts.

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO is the practice of improving and promoting a web site in order to increase the number of visitors the site receives from search engines.
There are many aspects to SEO, from the words on your page to the way other sites link to you on the web. Sometimes SEO is simply a matter of making sure your site is structured in a way that search engines understand.
Search Engine Optimization isn't just about "engines." It's about making your site better for people too. At SEOmoz we believe these principles go hand in hand.
This guide is designed to describe all areas of SEO - from discovery of the terms and phrases (keywords) that generate traffic, to making a site search engine friendly, to building the links and marketing the unique value of the site/organization's offerings. Don't worry, if you are confused about this stuff, you are not alone.

Why SEO Needed for Blogger?

An important aspect of Search Engine Optimization is making your website easy for both users and search engine robots to understand. Although search engines have become increasingly sophisticated, in many ways they still can't see and understand a web page the same way a human does. SEO helps the engines figure out what each page is about, and how it may be useful for users.

The majority of web traffic is driven by the major commercial search engines - Google, Bing and Yahoo!. Although social media and other types of traffic can generate visits to your website, search engines are the primary method of navigation for most Internet users. This is true whether your site provides content, services, products, information or just about anything else.

Why SEO Needed : Reason for SEO
As the title suggest, this article cover Reason for SEO or why SEO Needed. A good basic onsite SEO review let us know that we are not avoiding anything. A good SEO review will check whether we are loosing sight of search engines or not.
We do SEO on our site or blog for the basically following two reasons:

  1. Get traffic from Search Engines: The basic purpose of SEO is not to be number in SERPs but to get a huge traffic from search engines. You should understand this difference properly because it is important though you might rank better than before your SEO efforts still can’t be considered a success if you don’t reach the number of traffic you need/want from search engines.
  2. Targeted Visitors from Search Engines:There is a difference between a huge rush and targeted visitors. You need to be SEO’ed to get those traffic who are interested in the content you provide. It is directly proportional to bounce rate of visitors. If you get a high bounce rate, you need to take a close look at the targeted keywords and search terms and make them more relevant to the content of the web page.
These above mentioned points are the two main basic reasons for doing SEO. While if you are looking into the bigger picture,  you can see that there are more reason exists to do the SEO for any site. But the above two are the primary goal for doing SEO on any site. Hence, always remember that SEO is just a tool to help you reach your website’s aim. If you want to do effective SEO then do not lose sight of your goals.
